How App-Based Recycling Works!

Schedule your pickup by entering your address, date, and any donation preferences. Use the directions/comments section to provide specific instructions for the driver (e.g., "Call this number upon arrival" or "Bags are along the fence").

On the scheduled pickup day, place your bags outside in a secure location by 8 AM. The driver will collect them between 8 AM and 5 PM, label them, and deliver them to our counting facility. Once processed, your account will be updated with the new balance and counts. You can then request an Interac e-Transfer to redeem your balance.

You'll receive updates every step of the way—request received, pickup completed, counting done, and deposit made!

Yes, you can book a pickup whenever you want! Our available dates and schedules for your pickup will depend on your area and the frequency of your zone.

If you’re looking to return your bottles immediately, you’ll need to visit a bottle depot. If you prefer not to go to a depot, use SkipTheDepot!

Yes! To drop off your containers, simply find the closest Drop&Go location in the app or on the website (it's marked on the map).

Write your 4-digit customer ID on all your bags and head to the Drop&Go location.

Use the app or website to take a quick picture of your bags, then drop them into the designated area.

Yes, it helps us keep everything organized and ensures your containers are counted accurately.

You don’t have to be home. Just have your bags placed in your secure location by 8 AM, and ensure the directions for the driver are filled out in the comments section.

We don’t need anything sorted, but for your first pickup, containers must be placed in large garbage bags. Try to avoid using boxes where possible. If you must use a box, please place it inside a bag.

After your first pickup, SkipTheDepot will drop off branded bags for you to use.

We offer full refunds on all deposits, with a service fee applied. Additionally, a $1.50 fee from the bank is applied for e-Transfers, and there is a minimum $25 cash-out policy.

Never! We aim to make running bottle drives and collecting donations easier than ever!

Interac e-Transfer! Simply log into the website or SkipTheDepot app and request a redemption. This will trigger an Interac e-Transfer to be sent to your email address, which you can use to deposit into any participating financial institution of your choice. The minimum required amount is $25.

We do! However, we prefer to avoid them. Try to avoid boxes where possible. If you have a lot of boxes, we understand and will take them as is. After your first pickup, SkipTheDepot will drop off branded bags for you to use.

We offer a variety of regularly scheduled pickup options. When scheduling your next pickup, simply set the desired frequency. You can schedule weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pickups (other schedules available upon request).

Remember to use the directions and comments section for any special lock codes or areas our drivers need access to.

Absolutely! We just need access to your building’s recycling room to make your pickup as smooth as possible!

Yes, we offer both one-time and recurring pickups. We will schedule follow-up pickups for the same day of the week based on your desired frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly). If you cancel your next pickup, the recurring scheduling will stop.

SkipTheDepot offers corporations and businesses a fun way to collectively offset carbon emissions and generate funds for local charities. Sign up your company bottle drive and choose an organization to donate to. Share your signup link with members, friends, and family, and promote it online through your website, newsletter, and social media. Feel good knowing you're supporting local charities!

Absolutely! Some customers prefer to donate their containers to a worthy cause. SkipTheDepot makes this easy by allowing customers to donate to local charities during pickup or redemption. Tax receipts are then issued to customers by the charity.

The charities are responsible for issuing their own tax receipts. We provide charities with only the user information required to issue a tax receipt (name, address, phone, postal code, and donation amount). The system aggregates donations by user (multiple donations will be summed) when a redemption is initiated.

No problem. Customers will be informed before they donate that they will not receive a tax receipt.

Charities use SkipTheDepot for free but are encouraged to help spread the word (it's in your best interest!). We will provide a registration link for your organization. Any new users registering with your link will be shown your organization’s information and will be set up to automatically donate to your charity.

The regular service fee applies to pickups without a promo code. 100% promo codes for donors are available to waive the service fees—ask your preferred charity for theirs!

You can register here! We need the following information from the charity: Full Charity Name, Full Charity Mission Statement, PNG/Logo of Charity, CRN (Charity Registration Number), and an Email Address to send transfers. There is also an approval process where we verify your identity, email address, and charitable status through the government. After that, you're good to go!

The referral link is a unique link associated with your charity, available on your charity dashboard. Any new users registering with your link will be shown your organization’s information and will be set up to automatically donate to your charity.

Charity administrators can log into the system and request an Interac e-Transfer to receive the donations or request a cheque.

Featured Organizations are shown to SkipTheDepot customers when they register, book a pickup, and view their dashboard. Want to get your organization front and center to over 35,000 potential donors? Check out our Growth Plan on your organization account!

No cost at all! Once you create an organization account, you are given a Growth Plan. Complete 5 out of 12 simple tasks, and you can be featured.

We aim to create aligned partnerships with our charity partners, where we 'scratch each other's backs'—so to speak! If you promote us, we will promote you!

How to become a Featured Organization:

  1. Complete more than 5 Growth Tool items to qualify as a Featured Organization.
  2. The more tasks you complete, the higher your organization will appear in the Featured Organizations listing (placing your organization above others).
  3. Each task has an expiry date, and some will need to be completed more frequently to maintain eligibility (e.g., sharing a tweet).
  4. That's it!

We offer any organization or group the opportunity to collect donations from family members, friends, and acquaintances. Register your organization and use your referral link to direct donations to your cause.

Yes, both youth and adult! It's an easy way to fundraise for new equipment, jerseys, or team trips. Just sign up your organization here.

Sending out flyers is expensive, and so is the time spent going door-to-door in the community. Instead, register your organization and use social media to promote your bottle drive! Let us do the heavy lifting by picking up your donors' bottles and cans on your behalf. We'll even follow up every 10 weeks with each donor for more bottles. Yes, we are always on the lookout for new Depot Partners! We can provide increased volume, technology to help reduce lines, counting software, and more!

Our Drop&Go software allows customers to label and take a picture of their bags at your depot, creating an open order. As long as you provide a safe place to store them, customers can drop off bags to be counted at a more convenient time. We handle the online payment portion as well. Process the bags during slow hours to keep your staff operating at 100% efficiency.
