SkipTheDepot Holiday Fundraising Recap

Highlighting the Holiday Food Drive & Spirit of Giving campaigns!

2020: What a year……

Although many labeled 2020 as a year to forget, SkipTheDepot had many positive developments. This year, customers were amazing helping raise a total of over $470,000 dollars that helped support over 800 Albertan non-profit organizations.

Not too shabby hey?

In 2020, SkipTheDepot became a province wide platform as our fun and environmentally friendly operation set up shop in Edmonton and Lethbridge. Over the year we saw an outpouring of support as customer numbers rose to over 45,000 across the province.

This holiday season we had the pleasure of being part of two campaigns that assisted in providing some festive cheer.

The Spirit of Giving Campaign: The Mustard Seed

With the help of Rogers Media and radio stations such as Jack 96.9 and Sportsnet 960 in Calgary, we teamed up with The Mustard Seed to give people the option to support the organization from the comfort of their home.

Throughout December, Skippers put their best foot forward and showed a ton of support for the Mustard Seed.

Once all was said and done the, Albertans helped raise over $2,400 with over 48,000 empties contributed to their cause!

First Annual Holiday Food Drive: In Partnership with the Calgary, Edmonton & Lethbridge Food Banks

The cool thing about SkipTheDepot is not only do we make picking up your recycling a breeze but we also can make something such as a food drive run on autopilot as well. This year, the SkipTheDepot team saw an opportunity to use the App to help collect food donations in a province wide food drive.

We partnered up with the Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge Food Banks and gave Skippers the option to include a food bank donation when they booked pickup through SkipTheDepot.

Collectively, the campaign was a success after scoring radio and television time in both Edmonton with Global News and in Lethbridge on air with 106.7 Rock!

After the smoke cleared, and the dust settled, Skippers helped donate more than 1,300 pounds of food and over $2,000 to the food banks!

Needless to say we had a pretty busy December, however, we look forward to making the holiday food drive an annual event. Thank YOU Skippers once again for paying it forward this holiday season and we look forward to what 2021 has in store.
